Why we feed every cage by hand

Every one of our cages is fed by hand, every day. It is slower than throwing feed from a boat, but it lets the person on the walkway see how the fish are eating.

Watching how the fish feed

Healthy tilapia rush to the surface when feed hits the water. If a cage feeds slowly, that is often the first sign that something has changed: the water, the weather or the fish themselves. Our team scatters a scoop, watches, and only adds more while the fish are still taking it. Feed that sinks uneaten is wasted money and dirties the water.

Writing it down

Each cage has its own record of how much feed went in and how many fish were lost. Over a full cycle those records show which cages are growing well and which need attention, long before harvest day.

If you farm fish yourself and want to talk through your own feeding routine, get in touch.
