About us
About Billy Fish
Billy Fish Farm and Agriventures Limited is a woman-led fish farming business at Usigu Centre, Uwaria Beach, in Bondo Sub-County, Siaya County. We breed Nile tilapia in our own hatchery, grow it in deep-water cages on Lake Victoria, buy fish from smallholder farmers, and deliver fresh fish to traders and buyers across Kenya.
Our head office is at Tumaini Mall, Milimani, Kisumu, and we run aggregation hubs in Kisumu, Kakamega and Homa Bay.

Our founder
Bilha
Founder and CEO
Bilha founded Billy Fish in 2019 at Usigu, on the shores of Lake Victoria. She started with a few cages and a simple aim: the fish traders she knew, most of them women, needed a supplier they could count on every day.
In 2024 the business was registered as Billy Fish Farm and Agriventures Limited. It now runs its own solar-powered hatchery, cages on the lake and hubs in Kisumu, Kakamega and Homa Bay, and works with 29 women’s groups who farm their own cages.
“The women who sell fish deserve a steady supply and a fair share of the business. Every cage we help a group own is a step towards that.”
Our mission
To produce high-quality, sustainable fish while creating lasting economic opportunities for women, youth and farming communities.
Our vision
To be the regional leader in sustainable fish production and distribution.
Our values
Sustainability
The whole farm runs on solar power, and our hatchery filters and reuses its water. We farm in ways that keep the lake healthy.
Inclusion
Fish farming around the lake has mostly been run by men. We hire, train and buy with women and young people in mind.
Quality and biosecurity
We check hygiene, water quality and breeding stock at the hatchery, in the cages and at our hubs.
Reliability
Daily harvests and cold delivery, so buyers get fresh fish and can plan around us.

Purity Morang’a
Farm Manager
Purity runs the farm day to day. She holds a degree in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences from the Wildlife Research Training Institute (WRTI) and has more than four years of hands-on experience across Kenya’s aquaculture value chain, from hatchery to cage to market.
She started as a Hatchery Assistant at Kamuthanga Fish Farm, working on water quality, recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), catfish propagation, tilapia sex reversal, egg harvesting, grading eggs and fingerlings, and harvesting and processing fish.
In Migori County she worked as an Extension Officer on the Out-grower Commercialization of Tilapia Project with IDH, Aller Aqua and Bayrise Fish Farm, training and mentoring smallholder fish farmers. She then worked as an Aquaculture Consultant with MEDA and Bayrise Fish Farm, helping farmers with productivity, farm management and market linkages.
Her focus is making fish farming a profitable business for smallholder farmers around Lake Victoria.

Who we work with
We work with development partners, a Kenyan financial institution, feed and fingerling suppliers, and the buyers who take our fish every day. Our partners help fund the revolving funds behind our women’s cage outgrower programme and our support for fish trader groups.
Partner names and logos will appear here once each partner has agreed.
